3-Mercapto-1-(1,3-thiazolin-2-yl) azetidine hydrochloride has been synthesized from 2-mercaptothiazoline, through methylation, SN2 nucleophilic substitution with 3-hydroxyazetidine hydrochloride, activation of the hydroxyl group with methanesulfonyl chloride, SN2 nucleophilic substitution of the resultant mesylate with potassium thioacetate, and basic hydrolysis. The total yield was 51.6%, and purity of product was 98.5%.
