This compound has unique chemical properties. The synthetic route is as follows. Recommanded Product: 2-(2,2-Difluorocyclopropyl)ethanol

5.41 g (54.1 mmol) of chromium trioxide was dissolved in 90.2 mL of 1.5 M sulfuric acid solution, and cooled at with stirring 0 C. 3.3g (27.1 mmol) of 2-(2,2-difluorocyclopropyl)ethanol was dissolved in 90.2 mL of acetone. The mixture was added dropwise to a chromium trioxide-sulfuric acid solution with stirring at 0 C. After the addition was completed, the reaction solution was stirred at 0 C for 4 hours. The organic layer was extracted with diethyl ether (50 mL34). The combined organic layers were washed with brine. It was then extracted with 2M sodium hydroxide solution (50 mL34) and the aqueous layers were combined. The aqueous layer was acidified to pH < 1 with sulfuric acid with stirring in an ice bath. The organic layer was extracted with diethyl ether (50 mL 3 4), and the combined organic layers were washed with water and saturated brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated to give 3.4g colorless liquid 2-(2,2-difluorocyclopropyl)acetic acid in 92% yield.
