At 0C, to a solution of Cr03 (5.70 g, 57.00mmol) in sulfuric acid (8.3 mL) was added water (92 mL). The pH value of the resulting aqueous solution was adJusted to 1 using sulfuric acid and extracted with ether (50 mL x 4). The organic phases were combined, washed with brine and dried over Na2SO4.
