Objective: To observe curative effect of carboprost tromethamine (Hemabate) for controlling atonic postpartum hemorrhage. Methods: A retrospective anal. was undertaken on 87 cases of atonic postpartum hemorrhage which were treated with Hemabate, and 87 cases which didn′t use Hemabate were regarded as controlled group. Results: The hemorrhage was successfully controlled immediately after administration of Hemabate in 69 of 87cases. The total effective rate was 96.5%, four cases failed and two were performed hysterectomy. Conclusion: Hemabate appeared very effective for treatment of severe atonic postpartum hemorrhage. It also has the characters of convenience, safety, quick and high performance. It should be used actively at the early stage of postpartum hemorrhage.
