The organic layers were combined, 0.3N hydrochloric acid (2L), saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (2 x 2 L), washed with saturated brine (2L), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, the objective compound as a white solid concentrated under reduced pressure to 3,4-difluoro-2- (2-fluoro-4-iodo – phenylamino)-N- (2-hydroxy – ethoxy) -5-vinyl – benzamide (179 g, 87%).
