The resulting organic phase was washed with saturated aqueous NH4Cl solution, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to dryness to give crude (5-bromo-2-chloro-phenyl)methoxy-tert-butyl-dimethyl-silane (3.47 g; quantitative), used in the next step without purification. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 300 MHz): delta 7.52 (m, 1H); 7.40 (m, 1H); 7.29 (d, J = 8.4 Hz, 1H); 4.61 (s, 2H); 0.80 (s, 9H); 0.00 (s, 6H).
