Ozkan, Ilknur; Taylan, Secil; Eroglu, Nermin; Kolac, Nurcan published the artcile< The Relationship between Malnutrition and Subjective Taste Change Experienced by Patients with Cancer Receiving Outpatient Chemotherapy Treatment>, Related Products of 1492-18-8, the main research area is human malnutrition taste change cancer chemotherapy.

Taste changes and malnutrition are two important problems in patients with different types of cancer. This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between malnutrition and subjective taste changes experienced by cancer patients receiving outpatient chemotherapy. The study used a cross-sectional design and was carried out with 1382 patients with cancer receiving outpatient chemotherapy. Of the patients, 63.1% experienced taste changes. It was determined that 8.8% of patients had malnutrition according to the Mini Nutritional Assessment. The mean scores of patients experiencing malnutrition and being at risk for malnutrition from all sub-dimensions of The Chemotherapy-induced Taste Alteration Scale (CiTAS) were found to be higher than the patient group evaluated to have normal nutrition. It was determined that a unit increase in the scores of the parageusia and phantogeusia subscales of the CiTAS increased the risk of malnutrition by 3.36 times (%95CI = 2.68-4.02). In line with these results, we recommend that patients with cancer receiving chemotherapy should be routinely evaluated in terms of taste changes in clin. practice and that they should be followed up in terms of malnutrition in the presence of taste changes.

We report a general protocol for the light-driven isomerization of cyclic aliphatic alcs. to linear carbonyl compounds These reactions proceed via proton-coupled electron-transfer activation of alc. O-H bonds followed by subsequent C-C β-scission of the resulting alkoxy radical intermediates. In many cases, these redox-neutral isomerizations proceed in opposition to a significant energetic gradient, yielding products that are less thermodynamically stable than the starting materials. A mechanism is presented to rationalize this out-of-equilibrium behavior that may serve as a model for the design of other contrathermodynamic transformations driven by excited-state redox events.

Human & Experimental Toxicology published new progress about Apoptosis. 78-70-6 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C10H18O, Related Products of 78-70-6.

Oner, Z.; Altinoz, E.; Elbe, H.; Ekinci, N. published the artcile< The protective and therapeutic effects of linalool against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in Wistar albino rats>, Related Products of 78-70-6, the main research area is linalool doxorubicin cardiotoxicity therapeutics; Doxorubicin; MDA; cardiotoxicity; caspase-3; linalool; oxidative stress.

The aim of the present study was to determine the protective and therapeutic effects of linalool (LIN) against doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiotoxicity in rats histol. and biochem. In experiments, 64 male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into eight groups (n = 8). These groups were control (C) (0.9% saline solution), DOX (20 mg/kg DOX), LIN50 (50 mg/kg LIN), LIN100 (100 mg/kg LIN), DOX + LIN50 (20 mg/kg DOX and 50 mg/kg LIN), DOX + LIN100 (20 mg/kg DOX and 100 mg/kg LIN), LIN50 + DOX (50 mg/kg LIN and 20 mg/kg DOX), and LIN100 + DOX (100 mg/kg LIN and 20 mg/kg DOX). It was determined that histopathol. changes significantly decreased in groups treated with LIN after DOX administration. While the caspase-3 immunostaining was highly evident in DOX group apoptotic cells (p < 0.001, for all), the intensity of caspase-3 immunostaining in the treatment groups decreased (p < 0.05). While DOX administration resulted in a significant increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and plasma Creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels in cardiac tissue when compared to the C groups, it was observed that DOX + LIN administration led to a significant decrease in MDA, plasma CK and LDH levels and a significant increase in glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase, and catalase enzyme levels. Finally, it was concluded that DOX led to heavy cardiotoxicity and DOX + LIN administration could remove cardiomyopathy symptoms. Dehydrogenative coupling-based reactions have emerged as an efficient route toward the synthesis of a plethora of heterocyclic rings. Herein, we report an efficacious, nickel-catalyzed synthesis of two important heterocycles such as quinoline and quinoxaline. The catalyst is molecularly defined, is phosphine-free, and can operate at a mild reaction temperature of 80°C. Both the heterocycles can be easily assembled via double dehydrogenative coupling, starting from 2-aminobenzyl alc./1-phenylethanol and diamine/diol, resp., in a shorter span of reaction time. This environmentally benign synthetic protocol employing an inexpensive catalyst can rival many other transition-metal systems that have been developed for the fabrication of two putative heterocycles. Mechanistically, the dehydrogenation of secondary alc. follows clean pseudo-first-order kinetics and exhibits a sizable kinetic isotope effect. Intriguingly, this catalyst provides an example of storing the trapped hydrogen in the ligand backbone, avoiding metal-hydride formation. Easy regeneration of the oxidized form of the catalyst under aerobic/O2 oxidation makes this protocol eco-friendly and easy to handle.

Desiccation is a common stress experienced by crabs during aquaculture and transportation. In China, the crustacean, Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis), is economically important. However, little is known about the mol. pathways underlying physiol. stress. Here, by using untargeted gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry metabolomics, we investigated the metabolic responses of the gills of E. sinensis subjected to air-exposure stress by six biol. replicates of the control group (CG) and the air-exposure stress group (AG). Metabolomic anal. identified 43 differential metabolites in the AG vs. the CG that could be potential biomarkers of desiccation stress. In addition, integrated anal. of key metabolic pathways revealed the involvement of histidine metabolism; glycine, serine and threonine metabolism; the pentose phosphate pathway; the citrate cycle (TCA cycle); and nicotinate and nicotinamide metabolism These findings indicated the special physiol. responses to air-exposure stresses in this species.

Journal of Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis published new progress about Biomass refining. 627-27-0 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C4H8O, Recommanded Product: But-3-en-1-ol.

Fathalinejad, Samin; Taarning, Esben; Christensen, Peter; Christensen, Jan H. published the artcile< Chemical composition analysis of carbohydrate fragmentation products>, Recommanded Product: But-3-en-1-ol, the main research area is carbohydrate fragmentation product chem composition analysis.

Fragmentation of simple sugars, using fluidized thermal bed cracking, results in a mixture that contains a variety of polar oxygenated compounds, some yet unknown to the industries. This lack of understanding of the product composition, hinders the downstream processes in conversion of sugars to useful chems. The aim of this study was fourfold: to develop a GC-MS identification workflow for carbohydrate fragmentation compounds, to build a library of compounds detected by five GC-MS methods including liquid injection, liquid-liquid extraction, static headspace, solid-phase microextraction and derivatization, to investigate and compare the compound coverage of the five methods, and finally investigate possible reaction pathways for some of the analytes in the mixture The anal. was done on a mixture of seven representative sugar fragmentation samples. The identification workflow was based on mass spectral match factors (>80%), retention indexes and anal. standards A total of 389 compounds were detected, out of which, 46 compounds were fully identified (through confirmatory anal. of anal. standards), 87 were tentatively identified (spectral match factors above 80%), 71 were un-identified with spectral match factors of below 80% and 185 were discarded (contaminants in blanks, etc.). The production pathway for some of the identified compounds in the sugar conversion mixtures were also discussed. In conclusion, solid-phase microextraction detected the highest number of analytes (93), mostly volatile organic compounds and the derivatization GC-MS technique detected the lowest number of analytes (19) but was the only method to detect the largest mols. (C6-C12) in size. This library of CF products can be used as a suspect-screening database for other biomass fragmentation mixtures

Journal of Physical Chemistry A published new progress about Circular dichroism. 492-62-6 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C6H12O6, Application In Synthesis of 492-62-6.

Matsuo, Koichi; Gekko, Kunihiko published the artcile< Vacuum Ultraviolet Electronic Circular Dichroism Study of D-Glucose in Aqueous Solution>, Application In Synthesis of 492-62-6, the main research area is glucose aqueous solution vacuum UV CD model.

Vacuum UV (VUV) electronic CD (ECD) spectra of D-glucose, α-D-glucopyranose, and β-D-glucopyranose were measured in aqueous solution down to 163 nm using a synchrotron radiation VUV-ECD spectrophotometer and theor. analyzed using mol. dynamics (MD) simulations with explicit water mols. and using time-dependent d. functional theory (TDDFT). The theor. calculated spectra reproduced the exptl. observed spectra well, revealing that VUV-ECD exhibited unique spectra depending on the α-anomer and β-anomer configurations of the hydroxyl group at C-1 and the three gauche (G) and trans (T) rotamer conformations (GT, GG, and TG) of the hydroxymethyl group at C-5. These unique spectra could be ascribed to differences in the patterns of intramol. hydrogen bonds around the hydroxymethyl group at C-5 for the three rotamers and around the hydroxyl group at C-1 for the two anomers. The strengths of these intramol. interactions increased as the degree of hydration around the corresponding chromophores decreased, suggesting that hydration is a key factor for stabilizing rotamer and anomer structures. The rotamerization and anomerization mechanisms are further discussed in terms of differences in the intramol. interactions and the degree of hydration among the rotamer and anomer structures. The findings demonstrate that VUV-ECD spectroscopy is a useful tool for characterizing the equilibrium structures of monosaccharides.
