An oscillog. titrimetric method with sodium tetraphenylboron was described for pharmaceutical and metallurgical analyses. Since the proposed method was based on the visual display of a sharp oscillog. end-point and was not affected by the colors of the solution, precipitate and excipient, it can be used to replace gravimetric anal., non-aqueous titration, and extraction-photometric anal. The method was used in the determination of alkaloid and quaternary ammonium salt with the RSD 0.03-0.06% and the results consistent with those obtained by pharmacopoeia method. Some metallurgical samples were determined with the RSD 0.15- 0.40%, the recovery 98.7-100% and the results consistent with those obtained by standard method. The method was accurate, rapid, simple and cheap, and hence had large potential for extensive application.

Xing, Yan published the artcileClinical features and treatment of pediatric patients with drug-induced anaphylaxis: a study based on pharmacovigilance data, Recommanded Product: trans-4-((2-Amino-3,5-dibromobenzyl)amino)cyclohexanol hydrochloride, the publication is European Journal of Pediatrics (2018), 177(1), 145-154, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

Pediatric drug-induced anaphylaxis cases collected by the Beijing Pharmacovigilance Database from 2004 to 2014 were analyzed. A total of 91 cases were identified. Drug-induced anaphylaxis was primarily caused by antibiotics (53%). Children of 0-5 years were more likely to develop cyanosis symptoms than children of 13-17 years (OR = 5.14, 95%CI [1.74, 15.20], P = 0.002). Children of 13-17 years were more likely to develop hypotension than children of 6-12 years (OR = 11.79, 95%CI [2.28, 60.87], P = 0.002), and to manifest both neurol. symptoms (OR = 3.56, 95%CI [1.26, 10.08], P = 0.015) and severe anaphylaxis than children of 0-5 years (OR = 15.46, 95%CI [1.85, 129.33], P = 0.002). Supratherapeutic doses of epinephrine were more likely with i.v. (IV) bolus (92%) in contrast to either i.m. (IM) (36%, OR = 19.25, 95% CI [1.77, 209.55], P = 0.009) or s.c. (SC) injections (36%, OR = 19.80, 95% CI [1.94, 201.63], P = 0.005). Only 62 (68%) patients received epinephrine treatment as the first-line therapy. This study demonstrates that antibiotics were the most common cause of pediatric drug-induced anaphylaxis. Children may present with different anaphylactic signs/symptoms based on age groups. Epinephrine is under-utilized and provider education on the proper management of drug-induced anaphylaxis is warranted. The most common cause of anaphylaxis in children is allergies to foods, while the second most common cause of pediatric anaphylaxis is drugs. IM epinephrine is the recommended initial treatment of anaphylaxis. Drug-induced anaphylaxis in pediatric patients has age-related clin. features. IV bolus epinephrine was overused and associated with supratherapeutic dosing.

The role of ambroxol hydrochloride combined with fiberoptic bronchoscopy in elderly patients with severe pneumonia remains unclear, we aimed to analyze this issue to provide evidences into the management of clin. pneumonia. We searched PubMed et al databases up to Oct. 20, 2021 for the randomized controlled trials on the application of ambroxol hydrochloride combined with fiberoptic bronchoscopy in elderly patients with severe pneumonia. Related outcomes were extracted and analyzed. Review Manager 5.3 software was used for data anal. A total of 13 randomized controlled trials involving 1317 elderly patients (559 cases in the ambroxol hydrochloride+fiberoptic bronchoscopy group and 658 cases in the fiberoptic bronchoscopy group) with pneumonia were included. Meta-analyses indicated that the blood oxygen partial pressure [mean difference (MD)=5.75, 95% confidence interval (CI) (3.80, 7.70)], blood oxygen saturation [MD=6.43, 95% CI (4.39, 8.48)], oxygenation index [MD=26.75, 95% CI (14.61, 38.89)] of exptl. group was significantly higher than that of control group (all P001), the incidence of multiple organ failure [odds ratio=0.42, 95% CI (0.31, 0.56), P001], mortality on day 28 [odds ratio=0.44, 95% CI (0.33, 0.59)] of exptl. group was significantly less than that of control group (all P001). The high-dose ambroxol hydrochloride combined with fiberoptic bronchoscopy is beneficial to improve the patients blood gas indicators, and reduce mortality in elderly patients with severe pneumonia.

Wang, Junwu published the artcileEfficacy of high-dose ambroxol for paraquat poisoning: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials, Category: alcohols-buliding-blocks, the publication is Journal of Research in Medical Sciences (2020), 25(7), 67, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

Background: Paraquat (PQ) poisoning is characterized by rapidly progressive acute poisoning with high mortality and no specific antidote. Although some clin. studies have been conducted to investigate the benefits of high-dose ambroxol as an adjuvant treatment for PQ poisoning, the efficacy is controversial. Materials and Methods: After searching for relevant articles in English and Chinese databases from 1978 to 2019 according to the keywords (paraquat poisoning/methy viologen/gramoxone, and ambroxol/mucosolvan/Bromhexine), we found seven articles that met our inclusion and exclusion criteria. A meta-anal. was performed using fixed-effects model and random-effects model according to the I2 value in Stata software (version 15.0). Four outcome indicators (hospital mortality, partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2), oxygenation index (PaO2/FiO2), and survival time of the deceased patients) were of interest to us. Results: The meta-anal. showed that adjuvant treatment with high doses of ambroxol increased PaO 2 (weighted mean difference [WMD] = 13.73 [mmHg], 95% confidence interval [CI]: 8.68-18.79, Z = 11.80, P < 0.001), PaO 2/FiO2 (WMD = 38.81 [mmHg], 95% CI: 29.85-47.76, Z = 8.49, P = 0.000), and survival time of the deceased patients (WMD = 2.58 [d], 95% CI: 0.97-4.18, Z = 3.15, P = 0.002) compared with usual treatment. Treatment with high doses of ambroxol also appeared to reduce the hospital mortality (relative risk = 0.69, 95% CI: 0.55-0.86, Z = 3.25, P = 0.001). Conclusion: This study found that high-dose ambroxol is an effective therapy for PQ poisoning and may reduce the in-hospital mortality.

Chiral stationary phases are conveniently used for enantiomeric separation of drugs by liquid chromatog. Consumption of large volumes of hazardous solvents is considered as a common challenge for the sustainability of this technique. To this end, a columnar chromatog. has been adopted using 50-mm-length stationary phases. The study comprised five Phenomenex Lux cellulose- and amylose-based columns for the separation of guaifenesin (GUA) enantiomers. In addition, an exptl. design was used to optimize the gradient profile for the separation of racemic GUA and ambroxol HCl (AMB) binary mixture The chromatog. method was achieved using Lux Cellulose-1 (50 × 4.6 mm) as a chiral stationary phase and ethanol/water as a mobile phase with linear gradient elution of 20% to 70% ethanol in 6 min at a flow rate of 1.0 mL min-1 and UV detection at 270 nm. Linearity ranges were found to be 50 to 1000 μg mL-1 and 15 to 450 μg mL-1 for each GUA enantiomer and AMB, resp. Environmental, health and safety tool was used to assess and compare greenness of the proposed and reported methods. Short column indeed reduces the environmental impact by decreasing waste by about 60% and utilizing only 1-mL ethanol in the mobile phase. The proposed method is a safer alternative for the simultaneous determination of drugs in their combined pharmaceutical formulation. The method has been validated and compared favorably with a reported one.

Ambroxol hydrochloride (AH) is an expectorant drug used to stimulate pulmonary surfactant and serous airway secretion. Surfactant proteins (SPs) are essential for maintaining respiratory structure and function, although SP expression has also been reported in lung inflammatory and proliferative lesions. To determine whether AH exerts modulatory effects on these lung lesions, we examined its effects on pleural thickening induced by intrathoracic administration of dipotassium titanate (TISMO) in A/JJmsSlc (A/J) mice. We also analyzed the modulatory effects of AH on neoplastic lung lesions induced by 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) in A/J mice and by N-nitrosobis (2-hydroxypropyl) amine (DHPN) in F344/DuCrlCrj (F344) rats. A/J mice treated with TISMO showed decreased body weight, increased white blood cell (WBC) counts, and pleural thickening caused by pleuritis and poor general condition. However, A/J mice treated with TISMO + 120 ppm showed significant recovery of body weight and WBC counts to the same levels as those of A/J mice not treated with TISMO, although no significant differences were observed in histopathol. changes including the immunohistopathol. expression of IL-1β in the lung and maximum pleural thickness regardless of AH treatment. In the NNK and DHPN experiments, no significant differences in body weight, hematol., plasma biochem., and histopathol. changes were associated with AH concentration These results suggest that AH potentially exerts anti-inflammatory effects but does not have a direct suppressive effect on lung tumorigenesis in rodents.

The effects of ambroxol hydrochloride lavage with electronic bronchoscope on inflammatory factors procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in elderly patients with pneumonia complicated with respiratory failure were analyzed. There was no significant difference in the levels of PCT and CRP between the observation group and the control group before treatment. One week after treatment, PCT and CRP in the two groups decreased, and the observer was lower than that in the control group. Studies have shown that ambroxol hydrochloride lavage through electronic bronchoscope can effectively reduce the level of inflammatory factors in elderly patients with pneumonia complicated with respiratory failure, improve pulmonary function and blood gas indexes, and does not increase the rate of adverse reactions or complications. It is a treatment scheme suitable for elderly patients with pneumonia complicated with respiratory failure.
