Hu, Wei; Li, Changzhu; Dai, Jinming; Cui, Haiying; Lin, Lin published the artcile< Antibacterial activity and mechanism of Litsea cubeba essential oil against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)>, HPLC of Formula: 78-70-6, the main research area is Litsea Staphylococcus essential oil antibacterial cell hexose monophosphate pathway.

Litsea cubeba essential oil (LC-EO), one of the natural essential oils, could gradually replace chem. synthesis food additive in food industry due to its good antimicrobial activity. However, the antibacterial mechanism of the LC-EO is uncertain. This study took methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) as the research object to exposit its antibacterial mechanism. Research findings indicated the destructive effect of LC-EO on MRSA cell membrane, leading to intracellular biol. macromols. leakage. Whats more, the Hexose Monophophate Pathway (HMP) and its key enzyme (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) activity of MRSA were also inhibited after LC-EO treatment. Finally, the UV absorption spectroscopy result revealed that the key component of LC-EO (citral) could react with DNA in the form of chimera.

Wang, Wen-yan; Wang, Ru; Abbas, Ghulam; Wang, Gang; Zhao, Zhi-guo; Deng, Liang-wei; Wang, Lan published the artcile< Aggregation enhances the activity and growth rate of anammox bacteria and its mechanisms>, Recommanded Product: (2S,3R,4S,5S,6R)-6-(Hydroxymethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2,3,4,5-tetraol, the main research area is anammox bacteria aggregation growth biol wastewater treatment; Aggregation; Anammox bacteria; Extracellular polymeric substances; Glucopyranose polysaccharides; Norspermidine; PVA-SA gel immobilization.

The aggregation of anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) bacteria is important for the start-up and biomass retention of anammox processes. However, it is unclear whether it is beneficial to the activity, growth and reproduction of anammox bacteria. In this study, four reactor systems were developed to explore the effects of aggregation on anammox activity, growth and reproduction, after excluding the contribution of aggregation to sludge settling and retention. Results demonstrated that (i) compared with free-living planktonic bacteria, the aggregated bacteria had a higher volumetric nitrogen removal rate (0.75 kg-N/(m3·d)) and specific nitrogen removal activity (1.097 kg-N/VSS/d). And after 67 days cultivation, it had the higher sludge concentration and relative abundance (92.4%); (ii) compared with acidic polysaccharides and α-D-glucopyranose polysaccharides, β-D-glucopyranose polysaccharide play more essential roles of anammox aggregation; (iii) norspermidine triggered the secretion of α-D-glucopyranose polysaccharides to combat the toxicity, and inhibited biomass growth rate; (iv) immobilization in polyvinyl alc. (10%) or sodium alginate (2%) gel beads was better than sodium alginate-chitosan gel beads and norspermidine (biofilm inhibitor) for the cultivation of free-living planktonic anammox bacteria. This is the first comparative study of three methods for cultivating free-living anammox bacteria. In conclusion, we found that the aggregation of anammox sludge not only facilitates biomass retention but also enhances the bioactivity, relative abundance, growth, and reproduction rate of anammox bacteria. The work is helpful to understand the formation of anammox granular sludge and contribute to the fast start-up and stable operation in anammox application.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules published new progress about Blood serum. 3458-28-4 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C6H12O6, Name: (2S,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5,6-Pentahydroxyhexanal.

Li, Jia; Gu, Feifei; Cai, Chao; Hu, Minghua; Fan, Luodi; Hao, Jiejie; Yu, Guangli published the artcile< Purification, structural characterization, and immunomodulatory activity of the polysaccharides from Ganoderma lucidum>, Name: (2S,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5,6-Pentahydroxyhexanal, the main research area is Ganoderma polysaccharide purification immunomodulatory activity; Chain conformation; Ganoderma lucidum; Immunomodulatory activity; NMR; β-d-glucan.

A preliminary relationship was illustrated between the structural characteristics and corresponding immunomodulatory activities of G. lucidum polysaccharides. Two polysaccharides (GLP-1 and GLP-2) were purified from Ganoderma lucidum extracts by gradient ethanol precipitation and a Q-Sepharose Fast Flow (QFF) strong anion-exchange column. The monosaccharide composition, high-performance gel permeation chromatog.-multi-angle laser light scattering-refractive index (HPGPC-MALLS-RI), Fourier-transform IR spectroscopy (FT-IR), at. force microscopy (AFM), methylation anal., and NMR (NMR) were used to characterize these polysaccharides. The GLP-1 polysaccharide was elucidated as D-galactoglucan with a flexible random linear conformation that mainly composed of →6)-β-D-Glcp-(1→, →6)-α-D-Galp-(1→, and →3)-β-D-Glcp-(1→ residues. GLP-2 was found to be a relatively homogeneous β-D-glucan that possessing →6)-β-D-Glcp-(1→ and →3)-β-D-Glcp-(1→ residues packaged into a spherical conformation. Immunomodulatory activities in vivo demonstrated that GLP-1 produced better protection of the spleen and thymus and was more effective for promoting hematopoiesis and improving IgA levels in serum. Our results suggest that the immunomodulatory activities of G. lucidum polysaccharides are highly corresponded to their structural characteristics such as carbohydrate composition, mol. weight and advanced conformation. This study provides a preliminary basis for studying the relationship between polysaccharide structure characterization and pharmacol. activities.

Contact dermatitis linked to cosmetic products is a very common reason for visits to the dermatologist, and in more than half the cases, it is due to an allergic reaction. The aim of the study was to describe the common fragrance allergens in different categories of cosmetic products available on the European market. The influence that the product category and its distribution channel (retail stores and specialized stores such as beauty institutes or hairdressers and pharmacy) have on the prevalence of these allergens was evaluated. The Kruskal-Wallis test has been used for statistical data anal. There is a wide range of fragrance allergens, the most common being limonene (found in about 30% of products tested), linalool (just over a quarter of the products tested), and benzyl alc. (approx. 16% of the products tested). The average number of allergens found and their nature varies depending on the type of product in question (maximum number for shampoos and oral care with about 70 allergens and min. number for nail polish and makeup for eyes with fewer than 10 allergens). In the area of hygiene, deodorants and oral hygiene products are particularly noteworthy, the former for their significantly high number of allergens and the latter for their low number There is also a significant difference between the number of allergens found in eye makeup and foundations. Our results indicate that the number of regulated fragrance allergens is particularly influenced by the type of products.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules published new progress about Fusarium solani. 3458-28-4 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C6H12O6, Quality Control of 3458-28-4.

Zeng, Ying-Jie; Yang, Hui-Rong; Wu, Xiao-Ling; Peng, Fei; Huang, Zhi; Pu, Lei; Zong, Min-Hua; Yang, Ji-Guo; Lou, Wen-Yong published the artcile< Structure and immunomodulatory activity of polysaccharides from Fusarium solani DO7 by solid-state fermentation>, Quality Control of 3458-28-4, the main research area is fermentation polysaccharide Fusarium solani; Polysaccharides from Fusarium solani DO7; Solid-state fermentation; Structure-activity relationship.

Two polysaccharides, DGS1 and DGS2, were obtained by solid-state fermentation (SSF) of Fusarium solani DO7, an endophytic fungus isolated from the orchid Dendrobium officinale. Structural characterizations revealed that DGS1 consisted of arabinose, glucose, mannose and galactose with a molar ratio of 2.9:13.4:3.0:1, resp., and contained (1 → 5)-Araf, (1 → 4)-Glcp, (1 → 6)-Glcp, (1 → 3)-Manp, (1 → 2,6)-Manp and (1 → 6)-Galp glycosidic linkages, while DGS2 was composed of arabinose, glucose, mannose and galactose in a molar ratio of 3.5:8.1:2.1:1, resp., and contained (1 → 5)-Araf, (1 → 4)-Glcp, (1 → 6)-Glcp, (1 → 3)-Manp and (1 → 6)-Galp glycosidic linkages. Neither polysaccharide was toxic to human embryonic kidney cells or mouse RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. An immunomodulatory activity assay indicated that both polysaccharides could significantly enhance the levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and NO by activating TNF-α, IL-6 and iNOs gene expression, resp., especially DGS2. Interestingly, DGS2 also possessed relatively high antioxidant activity. These results illustrate that, due to its cost-effectiveness and environmentally friendly features, SSF has significant potential as a com. competitive source of natural products, including fungal polysaccharides, with immunomodulatory activity.

Ghosh, Soumen; Herink, Georg; Perri, Antonio; Preda, Fabrizio; Manzoni, Cristian; Polli, Dario; Cerullo, Giulio published the artcile< Broadband Optical Activity Spectroscopy with Interferometric Fourier-Transform Balanced Detection>, Name: (2S,3R,4S,5S,6R)-6-(Hydroxymethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2,3,4,5-tetraol, the main research area is broadband optical activity spectroscopy interferometric fourier transform balanced detection.

Spectrally resolved measurements of optical activity, such as CD (CD) and ORD (ORD), are powerful tools to study chiroptical properties of (bio)mol. and nanoplasmonic systems. The wider utilization of these techniques, however, has been impeded by the bulky and slow design of conventional spectropolarimeters, which have been limited to a narrowband scanning approach for more than 50 years. In this work, we demonstrate broadband measurements of optical activity by combining a balanced detection scheme with interferometric Fourier-transform spectroscopy. The setup utilizes a linearly polarized light field that creates an orthogonally polarized weak chiral free-induction-decay field, along with a phase-locked achiral transmitted signal, which serves as the local oscillator for heterodyne amplification. By scanning the delay between the two fields with a birefringent common-path interferometer and recording their interferogram with a balanced detector that measures polarization rotation, broadband CD and ORD spectra are retrieved simultaneously with a Fourier transform. Using an incoherent thermal light source, we achieve state-of-the-art sensitivity for CD and ORD across a broad wavelength range in a remarkably simple setup. We further demonstrate the potential of our technique for highly sensitive measurements of glucose concentration and the real-time monitoring of ground-state chem. reactions. The setup also accepts broadband pulses and will be suitable for broadband transient optical activity spectroscopy and broadband optical activity imaging.
