Cyclohexanol and its derivatives are widely used as chem. intermediates and fuel additives. Herein, Ru/SBA-15 catalysts were prepared via impregnation, and used for the production of cyclohexanols from lignin-derived phenols. The catalyst samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, TEM, etc., where the Ru0 species was speculated as the active phase. 5 wt% Ru/SBA-15 with small Ru particle size (4.99 nm) and high Ru dispersion (27.05%) exhibited an excellent hydrogenation activity. A high cyclohexanol yield of >99.9% was achieved at 20°C for 5 h in an aqueous phase, and the catalyst indicated stable activity and selectivity after five runs. Crucially, Ru/SBA-15 exhibited a zero-order reaction rate with an apparent activation energy (Ea) as low as 10.88 kJ mol-1 and a TON of 172.84 at 80°C. Simultaneously, demethoxylation activity was also observed in the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of G- and S-type monophenols, and a high yield of 37.4% of cyclohexanol was obtained at 80°C and 4 h when using eugenol as substrate.

In this Article, the authors report the structures and photoelectrochem. (PEC) performances of a family of TOCs, including pure [Ti12O8(OEt)16L8] ({Me-Ti12}) and six Cd-doped clusters formulated as [H4Cd2Ti10O8(OEt)16(L)8(H2O)2] ({Cd2Ti10}; L = salicylic acid and their derivatives). The six Cd-doped clusters are isostructural, containing the same {Cd2Ti10O8} core, but are protected by salicylic ligands modified with different functional groups. The compositions, structures, and solution stability of these clusters were studied in detail by single-crystal x-ray diffraction and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry measurements. The embedding of heterometallic Cd(II) and chem. modification of organic protective shells can effectively regulate the PEC water oxidation activity of those clusters, with {F-Cd2Ti10} having the highest turnover number of 518.55 and the highest turnover frequency of 172.85 h-1. The authors’ work highlights the potential of using TOCs that do not contain noble metals as water oxidation catalysts, and their catalytic activity can be regulated by structural modification.

Objective: To observe the effect and safety of hemabat (H) on prevention of postpartum hemorrhage in cesarean section and after cesarean section in high risk pregnant women. Methods: Four hundred and sixty-nine pregnant women with high hemorrhagic risk factors including twin pregnancy, polyhydramnios, fetal macrosomia, placenta previa were planned cesarean section. A total of 457 pregnant women were divided into 3 groups by operation indications. There were 239 cases of fetal macrosomia, 145 cases of twin pregnancy and polyhydramnios, and 73 cases of placenta previa. Three kinds of hysterotonics were used randomly in each group. Group oxytocin (O): 20 U oxytocin injected into the uterine plus 20 U oxytocin intravascularly, 152 women; Group oxytocin + hemabate (O + H): 20 U oxytocin and 250 μg hemabat injected into the uterine, 192 women; group H: 250 μg hemabat, injected into the uterine, 125 women. The amount of bleeding during the operation and within 2-h after delivery were measured. The side effect of each group was observed Results: The amount of bleeding during cesarean section in group O was (445 ± 262) ml, in group 0 + H (332 ± 218) ml, and in group H (375 ± 265) ml. There was an extremely significant difference between group O and group O + H (P < 0.01). The amount of bleeding within 2 h after delivery in group O was (176 ± 193) ml, in group O + H was (110 ± 114) ml, and in group H was (124 ± 103) ml. There was a significant difference between groups O, O + H and H. Among the 469 women, 31 had total amount of bleeding more than 1000 mL during operation and within 2 h after delivery, 48% (15 women) were in group O, 23% in group O + H and 29% in group H. The total amount of bleeding in group O was much more than group O + H and group H in the group of fetal macrosomia (P < 0.01, P < 0.01). Similar results were found in the group of twin pregnancy and polyhydramnios (P < 0.01, P < 0.01). The total amount bleeding in group O + H was much less than group O in the group of placenta previa (P < 0.05). There were 5% (12) pregnant women whose total amount of bleeding was ≥ 1000 mL in the group of fetal macrosomia, 8% (11) in the group of twin pregnancy, 11% (8) in the group of placenta previa. No hysterectomy was done among the women. The incidence of side effects in the three groups was 2.6%, 11.5% and 7.0% resp. Vomiting was frequently seen in the latter two groups, but recovered soon without treatment. Conclusion: Hemabat can significantly reduce the amount of bleeding during the cesarean section in pregnant women with high hemorrhagic risk factors and can be used with oxytocin as firstline medicine to prevent hemorrhage during and after delivery.

The full complement of stereoisomers of chiral 2,3-disubstituted dihydrobenzofurans and 3,4-disubstituted isochromans could be accessed at will by appropriate permutations of the two chiral catalysts. The current work provides a rare example of two chiral catalysts independently controlling two contiguous stereogenic centers subsequently via a two-step reaction in a single operation.

Aluminum sulfate alkali-free liquid accelerator is a kind of shotcrete admixture used in the construction of tunnels and culverts. In order to investigate the influence of alkanol amine in aluminum sulfate alkali-free liquid accelerator on cement hydration and strength, the different proportion of triethanolamine (TEA) and triisopropanolamine (TIPA) mixtures were added to aluminum sulfate alkali-free liquid accelerator. The mortar strength was measured by universal testing machine, and the hydration products were analyzed by XRD SEM and thermogravimetric anal. The results show that TEA can promote the hydration of C3A to form ettringite (AFt) and improve the early strength of cement, and TIPA can promote the hydration of ferrite phase, improve the degree of hydration, and promote the later strength of cement. The synergistic effect of TEA and TIPA in proper proportion can improve both the early strength and late strength of cement at all ages.

Bacillus megaterium is widely used as companion bacterium in the two-step biosynthesis of 2-keto-L-gulonic acid (2-KLG) by Ketogulonicigenium vulgare. To screen efficiently target companion strains from large numbers of random mutants, a screen method based on spectrophotometry and 24-well microtiter plates was developed and validated on an integrated library of 450 transposon random insertional mutants and two sporulation-defective mutants. The co-culture processes were classified into three groups (low, intermediate and high performance) by K-mean clustering anal. In addition, mutant m71 was successfully screened out from the library. The substrate conversion ratio of m71 and K. vulgare co-culture process after 72 h was decreased by about 38% compared with that of the wild-type co-culture process in 750 mL flasks. These results indicated that the proposed high throughput method is feasible for screening target companions for the co-culture process of 2-KLG biosynthesis.

OBJECTIVE: The paper explored the clin. efficacy of intraoperative injection of carboprost tromethamine to prevent postpartum hemorrhage in cesarean sections with placenta previa. Methods: The paper selected 54 cases of cesarean delivery with placenta previa who were treated in the hospital from March 2013 to March 2015 as the research subjects, and were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 27 cases in each group. The mothers in the observation group were injected with carboprost tromethamine in the uterine body after the newborn was delivered, while the women in the control group were given oral misoprostol. The paper observed and recorded the occurrence of bleeding and adverse reactions in the two groups during and after operation, within 2 h and within 24 h. Results: The intraoperative blood loss of patients in the postpartum observation group, and within 2 h and 24 h after the operation were lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05); the incidence of maternal adverse reactions was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Intraoperative injection of carboprost tromethamine during cesarean delivery with placenta previa could effectively prevent postpartum hemorrhage, reduce the amount of intraoperative and postoperative bleeding, and improve the quality of life of the woman.

To understand the effects of sporulation and spore stability on 2-KLG production, the spo0A and spoVFA deletion mutants of Bacillus megaterium were constructed. In addition, K. vulgare cell numbers in the two mutant systems declined by 15% and 49%, resp., compared to the value in the wild-type system. Correlation anal. indicated that the 2-KLG concentration is pos. related to sorbose dehydrogenase activity and the K. vulgare cell number This study demonstrated that sporulation and spore stability of the wild-type companion play key roles in the enhancement of K. vulgare propagation and 2-KLG biosynthesis.
