The application effect of urapidil on prevention and treatment of adverse reactions caused by carboprost tromethamine in cesarean section was observed A total of 60 full-term pregnant patients who needed cesarean section of lower uterine segment were randomly divided into urapidil group (U group) and normal saline group (N group), 30 cases in each group. The incidences of headache and chest tightness were higher in N group than in U group (P<0.05). Urapidil can be effectively used in the prevention and treatment of adverse reactions caused by carboprost tromethamine in cesarean section, which is conducive to the stability of circular breathing.

Thus, we evaluated the techno-economic feasibility of an integrated strategy through deterministic and stochastic models for the coprodn. of biofuels (jet fuel range alkenes (JFA)) and bio-based chems. (pentanediols and pentane) to identify the impact of uncertainty in technol. cycle on the CE action plan. The deterministic anal. estimated the min. JFA selling price (MJSP) expressed per gasoline gal equivalent (GGE) and led to the identification of six major techno-economic parameters having a significant impact on the economics. Stochastic anal. was performed based on the Monte Carlo simulation, leading to probabilistic results on the economic feasibility of the integrated strategy, taking into account the uncertainty in the six identified parameters. In five of the six scenarios developed considering each uncertainty, the chances of MJSP being lower than the maximum biofuel price (USD 3.10 GGE-1) in the last three years (2017-2019) were higher than 50% (53.2-88.1%), implying that, despite the uncertainties reflected in the major techno-economic parameters, the integrated strategy could be a risk-averse investment.

Therapeutic angiogenesis is a potential therapeutic strategy for hind limb ischemia (HLI); however, currently, there are no small-mol. drugs capable of inducing it at the clin. level. Activating the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) pathway in skeletal muscle induces the secretion of angiogenic factors and thus is an attractive therapeutic angiogenesis strategy. Using salidroside, a natural glycosidic compound as a lead, we performed a structure-activity relationship (SAR) study for developing a more effective and drug angiogenesis agent. We found a novel glycoside scaffold compound (C-30) with better efficacy than salidroside in enhancing the accumulation of the HIF-1α protein and stimulating the paracrine functions of skeletal muscle cells. This in turn significantly increased the angiogenic potential of vascular endothelial and smooth muscle cells and, subsequently, induced the formation of mature, functional blood vessels in diabetic and non-diabetic HLI mice. Together, this study offers a novel, promising small-mol.-based therapeutic strategy for treating HLI.

Two bacterial strains used for industrial production of 2-keto-L-gulonic acid (2-KLG), Ketogulonigenium vulgare 2 and Bacillus thuringiensis 1514, were loaded onto the spacecraft Shenzhou VII and exposed to space conditions for 68 h in an attempt to increase their fermentation productivities of 2-KLG. An optimal combination of mutants B. thuringiensis 320 and K. vulgare 2194 (KB2194-320) was identified by systematically screening the pH and 2-KLG production of 16 000 colonies. Compared with the coculture of parent strains, the conversion rate of L-sorbose to 2-KLG by KB2194-320 in shake flask fermentation was increased significantly from 82·7% to 95·0%. Furthermore, a conversion rate of 94·5% and 2-KLG productivity of 1·88 g l-1 h-1 were achieved with KB2194-320 in industrial-scale fermentation (260 m3 fermentor). An observed increase in cell number of K2194 (increased by 47·8%) during the exponential phase and decrease in 2-KLG reductase activity (decreased by 46·0%) were assumed to explain the enhanced 2-KLG production The results suggested that the mutants KB2194-320 could be ideal substitutes for the currently employed strains in the 2-KLG fermentation process and demonstrated the feasibility of using spaceflight to breed high-yielding 2-KLG-producing strains for vitamin C production Significance and Impact of the Study : KB2194-320, a combination of two bacterial strains bred by spaceflight mutation, exhibited significantly improved 2-KLG productivity and hence could potentially increase the efficiency and reduce the cost of vitamin C production by the two-step fermentation process. In addition, a new pH indicator method was applied for rational screening of K2, which dramatically improved the efficiency of screening.

A new plate method was developed for rapid screening of Ketogulonicigenium vulgare mutants overproducing 2-keto-L-gulonic acid (2-KLG). The screening methodol. took the advantage of the acidity caused by 2-KLG, which changes the color of bromothymol blue (pH indicator) from blue to yellow. Using the proposed method, a mutant, K. vulgare 65, was selected from 20,000 colonies produced by a strain subjected to spaceflight mutagenesis. When co-cultured with Bacillus megaterium 2980 in 20-L fermenters, K. vulgare 65 showed a high conversion rate (94.45%) of l-sorbose to 2-KLG. In contrast to the traditional screening method, this one significantly improved the frequency of obtaining pos. mutants. Theproposed plate screening method is cost-effective and easy to run and is thus useful for the isolation and screening of K. vulgare mutants overproducing 2-KLG.

Objective: To analyze the preventive effect of the combination of carboprost tromethamine and oxytocin on postpartum hemorrhage in cesarean section of high-risk women, and observe the occurrence of adverse reactions after maternal medication. Methods: A total of 120 high-risk pregnant women who were scheduled for cesarean delivery at the Obstetrics Department of Liaobu Hospital in Dongguan City were collected, and randomly divided into 3 groups. 40 cases in group A, who were given oxytocin alone. 40 patients in group B were treated with oxytocin combined with carboprost methylate suppository. 40 patients in group C were given oxytocin combined with carboprost tromethamine. The intraoperative and postoperative bleeding volume, postpartum hemorrhage, treatment and adverse reactions of the three groups were compared. Results: The intraoperative and postoperative 2 h bleeding volume of group B and group C were significantly lower than that of group A (P < 0.05), among which the difference of group C was more significant. The bleeding volume in group C was significantly lower than that in group A and group B at 2-24 h after operation (P < 0.05). The incidence of postpartum hemorrhage, blood transfusion rate, and treatment rate of other hemostatic measures in group B and group C were significantly lower than those in group A (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of carboprost tromethamine and oxytocin can effectively reduce the amount of postpartum hemorrhage and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in high-risk women, and it is safe and worthy of further promotion.

Extracts from plants used in Chinese medicine can be good sources of fungicides for agricultural applications. In this study, we separated and identified antifungal compounds from four traditional Chinese medicine extracts and evaluated their antifungal activities in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, honokiol extracted from Artemisia argyi showed broad-spectrum antimicrobial and mycelial inhibitory activity with EC50 in the range 3.56 – 33.85 μg/mL against eight plant pathogens. q-PCR indicated that honokiol might induce cell cancerisation and inhibit cellular respiration, which provided significant insights into honokiol function in tobacco resistance to mol. mechanisms of the phytopathogenic fungus Phytophthora nicotianae. In vivo, honokiol significantly decreased the rate of fungal infection in eggplants, potatoes, grapes, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers, and enhanced disease resistance in tobacco. Overall, our results indicate that honokiol has the potential to control a variety of fungal and oomycete diseases, and A. argyi could be a source of honokiol.
