Kurd, Nematullah published the artcileApplication of Fe3O4@TbBd nanobeads in microextraction by packed sorbent (MEPS) for determination of BTEXs biomarkers by HPLC-UV in urine samples, Recommanded Product: 2-Hydroxy-2-phenylacetic acid, the publication is Journal of Chromatography B: Analytical Technologies in the Biomedical and Life Sciences (2022), 123197, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

A relatively new adsorbent based on covalent organic frameworks (COFs) was employed for the first time to extract and determine Trans, trans-muconic acid (tt-MA), Mandelic acid (MA), Hippuric acid (HA), and 3-Methylhippuric acid (m-MHA) in urine. For this purpose, microextraction was performed using the packed sorbent (MEPS) method. Following the extraction process, the prepared samples were specified via the high-performance liquid chromatog.-UV detector system. The precipitation polymerization was applied to synthesize the Fe3O4@TbBd nanobeads, and the morphol. and dimensional structures of the products were specified with FE-SEM images. Some key variables affecting the extraction efficiency (i.e., sample volume, elution volume, condition and washing solvents, type and volume of elution solvent, extraction cycles, temperature, and pH of the sample solution) were investigated. In ideal conditions, the limit of detection (LOD) was obtained from 0.02 μg/mL for tt-MA to 0.5 μg/mL for MA. Calibration curves (at five-point) were plotted in the range 0.05-5 μg/mL for tt-MA to 1-300 μg/mL for MA (R2 > 0.98). Moreover, intra- and inter-day precision values were 3.1-5.5 and 4.6-9.8%, resp. The developed method was successfully employed to determine four analytes in three concentrations (low, medium, and high QCs). The results showed a satisfactory recovery (70-87%). COF-MEPS technique is a rapid, easy, user-friendly, and environment-friendly method for separating the min. values of all BTEXs chief biomarkers from urine samples without using complicated processes and only with one adsorbent. Also, it can be a good alternative for biomonitoring the workers exposed to BTEX compounds in occupational and environmental access.

In general, buriti seeds (BSE) and buriti shells (BSH) are discarded or used as animal feed. However, these materials may have other destinations. Therefore, the aim of this work was to obtain extracts from BSE and BSH using different extraction techniques and solvents in order to evaluate their effects on phenolic profile and antioxidant capacity of the recovered extracts Global yield, total phenolic content (TPC), in vitro antioxidant activities, and phenolic composition accessed by LC-ESI-MS/MS were evaluated. Principal component anal. (PCA) was used as a tool to correlate the observed data. Raw material, solvent type, and extraction method influenced the obtained results mainly in relation to the phenolic composition BSH showed higher values of global yield, antioxidant activity, and TPC, compared to BSE. Considering the 46 phenolic compounds analyzed, 28 were quantified from BSE and 33 from BSH samples. Protocatechuic acid was the major phenolic compound found in most samples, except for the BSH extract obtained with pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), which presented quercetin as the main phenolic compound PCA anal. demonstrated that flavonoids are most associated with the BSH, while phenolic acids and phenolic aldehydes are most related to BSE samples.

The supercritical extraction process is a technique that has increasingly been applied in various industries in recent years. Solubility determination in the supercritical region is the key feature for this process. However, high expenses and time consuming experiments for this task obligates the need for process modeling. In this study, a thermodn. model is proposed to correlate the solubility of solid hydrocarbons, namely, 1-hexadecanol, 1-octadecanol, anthracene, benzoin, fluorene, hexamethylbenzene, mandelic acid, naphthalene, palmitic acid, phenanthrene, Pr 4-hydroxybenzoate, pyrene and stearic acid in supercritical conditions, using Peng-Robinson (PR) and Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) equations of state with one-parameter van der Waals (vdW1) and two-parameters (vdW2) and covolume dependent (CVD) mixing rules. For the above combination of equations of state and mixing rules, binary interaction parameters were determined, utilizing the differential evolution optimization strategy. The validity of the model was assessed by comparing the exptl. solubility data with the results obtained from thermodn. model based on average absolute relative deviation (AARD). An empirical correlation was proposed for the correlation of the solid solubilities in supercritical CO2. For each compound, the constants of this equation were obtained in such a manner to correlate the solubility at different temperatures and pressures.

Castrosanto, Melvin A. published the artcileBarnyard grass [ Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Beauv] leaves extract against tomato pests, COA of Formula: C8H8O3, the publication is Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture (2021), 101(15), 6289-6299, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

Tomato is one of the widely cultivated crops worldwide that is affected by several pests, such as fungi (Fusarium oxysoporum, Alternaria solani), bacteria (Pectobacterium carotovorum) and weeds (Cyperus iria L., Amaranthus spinosus). A growing interest has emerged for developing plant-derived pesticidal compounds to counteract these pests. One attractive alternative is to use barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli), known to be widely resistant to synthetic herbicides, as a potential biopesticide compound source. Phytochem. screening of the crude extract showed that phenolic compounds were the most abundant component present in barnyard grass. The crude extract was evaluated for antifungal, antibacterial and herbicidal activities. Bioassays showed inhibition against F. oxysporum (10.73 ± 1.30%) and A. solani (20.47 ± 3.51%), the causative agent of Fusarium rot and early blight disease in tomato, resp. Antibacterial activity against P. carotovorum gave a mean zone of inhibition (paper disk diffusion assay) of 17.00 ± 1.00 mm and an IC50 (dose-response assay) of 2.26 mg mL-1 was observed Dose-responsive herbicidal activity on the lettuce seed germination bioassay produced an IC50 of 459.30 ppm. Selectivity studies showed inhibition towards C. iria and A. spinosus with no effect on tomato. Lastly, bioassay-guided fractionation coupled with untargeted metabolomics studies using ultra-performance liquid chromatog. with diode array detection-tandem mass spectrometry mass analyses revealed loliolide and tricin as the putative metabolites present in barnyard grass. To date, this is the first reported study on using barnyard grass as a potential alternative biopesticide against tomato pests such as fungi, bacteria and weeds. 2021 Society of Chem. Industry.
