A review. Obesity is a globally widespread metabolic disorder, characterized by immoderate fat accumulation in the body. There are different types of body fats such as white adipose tissue (WAT), which stores surplus energy in the body, and brown adipose tissue (BAT) which utilize energy to produce heat during metabolism BAT acts many beneficial functions in metabolic disorders including type 2 diabetes and obesity. Recent studies have investigated methods for promoting the fat browning process of WAT in obesity because of various reasons such as the improvement of insulin resistance, and weight loss. Among natural polyphenolic compounds, resveratrol has been highlighted due to its anti-oxidant and anti-obesity as well as anti-inflammation and anti-cancer properties. Recent studies have paid a lot of attention to that resveratrol may act as a fat browning activator, involved in the secretion of many myokines and adipokines. Here, we reviewed the role of resveratrol in fat browning and also the association between resveratrol and adipokines/myokines in the fat browning process. Our review may provide novel insight into the role of resveratrol in fat browning, leading to the maintenance of a healthy weight against obesity.

Munoz-Gonzalez, Carolina; Feron, Gilles; Canon, Francis published the artcile< Physiological and oral parameters contribute prediction of retronasal aroma release in an elderly cohort>, Recommanded Product: 3,7-Dimethylocta-1,6-dien-3-ol, the main research area is Interindividual differences aroma release PTRMS Age BMI Saliva; Salivary antioxidant capacity Personalized nutrition; Age; BMI; In vivo aroma release; Interindividual differences; PTR-MS; Personalized nutrition; Saliva; Salivary antioxidant capacity.

Malnutrition is a serious problem in the elderly while understanding flavor perception could be a tool for controlling appetite or food choices. To increase our knowledge, we characterised the health and oral physiol. (oral volume, swallowing tongue force, number of teeth and salivary flow rate, protein content and antioxidant capacity) of a cohort of 54 community-dwelling French elderly as well as their individual retronasal release of five aroma compounds (2-pentanone, 2-nonanone, 2,3-hexanedione, octanal and linalool) by proton-transfer-reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS). In general, large variability across participants was observed in both oral physiol. (>40%) and retronasal aroma release (>56%) parameters. Multivariate analyses revealed a relationship between physiol. parameters (mostly salivary antioxidant capacity) and retronasal aroma release that explained up to 46% of the variability observed This study provides new insights to understand retronasal aroma release in the elderly that could contribute to the development of personalised nutrition strategies.

Guo, Guifang; Chen, Xiuxing; Cai, Xiuyu; Chen, Yanfeng; Wang, Haohua; Fan, Lei; Bai, Long; Qiu, Huijuan; Zhang, Bei published the artcile< Inflammation-based markers can predict the prognosis of geriatric patients with metastatic colorectal cancer receiving first-line chemotherapy>, Related Products of 1492-18-8, the main research area is colorectal cancer anticancer agent metastasis; C-reactive protein (CRP); Colorectal cancer; carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9); carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA); geriatric patient; inflammation; lactate dehydrogenase (LDH); neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR).

A total of 186 MCRC patients aged =65 years, receiving chemotherapy between Jan. 1, 2004 and Oct. 1, 2015 were identified. Pretreatment levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9), LDH, CRP and NLR were measured. Effect of these inflammatory factors on overall survival (OS) and first-line progression-free survival were analyzed. Median PFS and OS were 6.70 mo and 25.62 mo. CEA =85 ng/mL (P=0.010), CA 19-9 =32.97 U/mL (P=0.010), LDH =325 U/L (P=0.015), CRP =11 mg/L (P=0.004) and NLR =2.12 (P=0.045) were associated with poor OS. Furthermore, LDH (P=0.025) was demonstrated as an independent prognostic factor of OS for all patients, so did the combination of CEA with CA 19-9 (P=0.009). When predicting the one, three and five-year survival, combination of CEA with CA 19-9 had higher sensitivity compared with CEA alone or CA 19-9 alone resp. For right-sided colon cancer, CEA (P<0.001) and CA 19-9 (P=0.003) were related with OS and CEA (P=0.002) was the independent prognostic factor. For left-sided colorectal cancer, inflammatory factors related with OS were LDH (P=0.039), CRP (P=0.004) and NLR (P=0.020) and CRP (P=0.040) was the independent prognostic factor. However, no inflammatory factors were contained in multivariate COX regression. CEA, CA 19-9, LDH, CRP and NLR were related with OS in geriatric patients with MCRC. Right-sided and left-sided groups had different independent prognostic markers, CEA and CRP resp. Lu, Yan; Xu, Lei; Cong, Yunzhe; Song, Ge; Han, Jun; Wang, Guodong; Zhang, Pengying; Chen, Kaoshan published the artcile< Structural characteristics and anticancer/antioxidant activities of a novel polysaccharide from Trichoderma kanganensis>, Application of C6H12O6, the main research area is Trichoderma kanganensis anticancer antioxidant polysaccharide structure; Anticancer activity; Antioxidant activity; Polysaccharide; Structural characteristics; Trichoderma kanganensis.

A novel water-soluble polysaccharide designated as TPS was isolated from the fermentation mycelia of Trichoderma kanganensis. TPS had a weight-average mol. mass of 3.074 × 105 Da, and the monosaccharide composition was consisted of Man (45.5%), GlcA (5.5%), Glc (10%), and Gal (39%). The major backbone of TPS was →6-α-D-Galp-1→5-β-D-Manf-1→5,6-β-D-Manf-1→5,6-β-D-Manf-1→, and the side chains are α-D-Glcp-1→4-α-D-Glcp-1→, β-D-Galf-1→, and α-D-Glcp-1→. In addition, we demonstrated that TPS was non-toxic in normal cells (LO2 cells) and inhibited the proliferation of mouse colon cells (CT26 cells). TPS also showed free radical scavenging activity against hydrogen peroxide. Overall, these results suggested that TPS from Trichoderma kanganensis may have potential application in biomedical fields.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry published new progress about Beer. 78-70-6 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C10H18O, COA of Formula: C10H18O.

Neiens, Silva D.; Steinhaus, Martin published the artcile< Investigations on the impact of the special flavor hop variety Huell Melon on the odor-active compounds in late hopped and dry hopped beers>, COA of Formula: C10H18O, the main research area is flavor hop Huell Melon odor beer; AEDA; Huell Melon; Humulus lupulus; SIDA; aroma extract dilution analysis; dry hopping; hops; late hopping; spiking experiment; stable isotope dilution assay; transfer rate.

Bottom-fermented and top-fermented beers, both either late or dry hopped with Huell Melon hops, and resp. reference beers without late or dry hopping were subjected to a comparative odorant screening by aroma extract dilution analyses. On the basis of differences in the FD factors, 14 odorants were identified as hop-derived. Among them were Et 2-methylpropanoate, Me 2-methylbutanoate, Et 2-methylbutanoate, Pr 2-methylbutanoate, myrcene, linalool, and geraniol. Differences between late hopped, dry hopped, and reference beers were substantiated by quantitation. Results showed minimal transfer of myrcene from hops into beer. Moderate transfer was observed for Pr 2-methylbutanoate, geraniol, and linalool. Process-induced changes of Et 2-methylpropanoate, Et 2-methylbutanoate, and Me 2-methylbutanoate were beyond a direct transfer from hops into beer, suggesting a formation from the corresponding hop-derived carboxylic acids by yeast. Spiking experiments revealed that linalool and Pr 2-methylbutanoate contributed particularly to the characteristic aroma of beers flavored with Huell Melon hops.

Food Chemistry published new progress about Air drying process (hot). 3458-28-4 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C6H12O6, Electric Literature of 3458-28-4.

Chen, Guangjing; Li, Changfeng; Wang, Shasha; Mei, Xiaofei; Zhang, Hongxin; Kan, Jianquan published the artcile< Characterization of physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity of polysaccharides from shoot residues of bamboo (Chimonobambusa quadrangularis): Effect of drying procedures>, Electric Literature of 3458-28-4, the main research area is Chimonobambusa bamboo shoot residue antioxidant polysaccharide drying; Antioxidant activity; Bamboo shoots processing by-products; Chimonobambusa quadrangularis polysaccharides; Drying procedures; Physicochemical characterization.

In the present study, the bamboo shoot (Chimonobambusa quadrangularis) residue (BSR)-derived polysaccharides (CPS) were dried using different drying procedures, including hot air-, vacuum-, freeze-, and spray-drying. The influences of different drying procedures on the chem. compositions, physicochem. characteristics, and antioxidant activity of CPS were investigated. The results indicate that freeze-dried CPS possessed the highest polysaccharide yield (8.86%) and uronic acid content (9.42%), and the lowest medium-high mol. weight (117.49 kDa) and glucose content (5.81 mol%). Also, freeze-dried CPS had better water (5.17 g/g) and oil retention capacities (2.32 g/g) than hot air- and vacuum-dried CPS. Moreover, freeze-dried CPS exhibited the most potent antioxidant ability. Based on correlation anal., a higher uronic acid content, lower mol. weight and lower glucose content might be closely associated with the better antioxidant activity of the freeze-dried CPS. Hence, the above results revealed freeze-drying was the optimal method for industrial production of high quality CPS.
